2013 Car Launches: Mercedes W04 breaks cover at Jerez (+Pictures)

Mercedes has launched its new car - the W04 - during a filming day at the Jerez circuit.

The car was first seen as Nico Rosberg was driving on the circuit with new team-mate Lewis Hamilton taking photographs trackside as Mercedes announced a new partnership with BlackBerry. Following the morning's filming the car was officially launched by both drivers on the start/finish straight.

Michael Schumacher announces his retirement at the end of the season

At Suzuka today (Oct 4) Michael Schumacher, the seven-time world champion has announced his retirement from the sport for the second time, at the end of the season.



Michael Schumacher having been replaced by Lewis Hamilton for 2013 at Mercedes, was linked to move to Sauber, instead, quit the sport at the age of 43.

Dieter Zetsche invites Schumacher to stay with Mercedes family in non-racing role

Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche has invited Michael Schumacher to stay in the Mercedes family in a non-racing role.

"My personal wish is that he (Schumacher) remains a partner of our enterprise after his active time in the Mercedes cockpit," he is quoted by the Bild am Feiertag newspaper.

Following the Italian Grand Prix, Ferrari, Mercedes and Force India conducted their annual young driver tests at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours (on September 11-13).
